Tensions between surfaces and the less discernible realities that lie beneath them have always animated my work.
Until recently, my portraits and still-life photographs have been subtle and restrained explorations of those
tensions. My new project, “(she didn’t say) Let Them Eat Cake,” uses a more dramatic language:
the lush delights and decadence of confectionery.
